There is no doubt in my mind that the creature in this film is part of the bear family.

Anon at 01.47 is correct. They are part of the family Mustelidae and are no relation to bears.
In Russia, the consumption of badger meat is still widespread. Shish kebabs made from badger, along with dog meat and pork, are cited as a major source of trichinellosis outbreaks in the Altai region of Russia.
They are riddled with all sorts. There's a serious problem in some areas with badgers giving cattle TB.
