Mozaic Café & Delicatessen Ashton under Lyne

The arrival of Café Mozaic in Ashton under Lyne gives the people of Ashton the chance to experience authentic Moroccan cuisine in their home town.

Having recently visited Café Mozaic I can say I was impressed with the food on offer and the service offered by the staff. The atmosphere in Mozaic could be described as informal and friendly. If you are new to Moroccan cuisine the proprietor will happily talk you through the dishes on offer. While the menu does contain some wonderful culinary treats I was disappointed to see no bastela on offer.

All meat served at Mozaic is halal, which for well documented reasons prevents me from sampling any of the meat dishes but I must say the poached salmon with dill mayo is particularly good. A colleague opted for the Chefs Daily Special which comes as a complete meal and is usually accompanied by the highly recommended brown rice with cashew nuts.

All in all the arrival of Mozaic in Ashton adds a touch of spice to the culinary delights available to the discerning shopper and office worker. Some of the dishes are extremely spicy and I doubt any could be described as bland, but do be careful if planning an intimate date after eating at Mozaic as the spicy food can give you a bad case of fire breath for several hours after eating.

It is also worth adding that Tameside’s own version of royalty, yes, the one we all owe everything to - the Supreme Leader, the true living legend, the Executive Leader himself - Kieran Quinn is said to be an occasional customer of Mozaic so when you hear the local monied aristocracy eat there it must be worth a visit. Buying Halal dishes or not you're financially propping up animal torturers. I thought you were a friend of the animal kingdom.

From what I can gather, many of the Asian takeaways and restaurants in Tameside are nothing more than fronts for money laundering.

Many people are perplexed as to how some of these "businesses" can make any money when even on a Friday or Saturday night they are always empty, except for 5 or 6 members of staff. The authorities know exactly what's going on, but either can't or won't act.

Hi TE, I did get an email asking would I visit, but there was no offer of free food - I feel cheated, lol. It is pretty good if you like spicy food and like many small privately owned businesses the management are really enthusiastic about the products they have on offer. And if it is good enough for KQ……………..

Meat Pie & Chips, don't knock it until you have tried it. If you take off your blinkers you may actually discover it is nice.

What's this? Local bloggers failing to declare bribes? Perhaps we need a 'Bloggers Register of Interest'?

I'm sure TC and TE have more influence than the Councillors and will get better offers!

Razza, I have tried it, didn't like it and so eat mostly British food.

Re Halal exemption from animal cruelty laws.
When two elderly law abiding Christian hotel owners say they don't want homosexuals in their bed and breakfast the law comes down on them with its full politically correct might.
When foreign religions want to barbarically slaughter animals on a industrial scale without pre-stunning, the establishment, judiciary and legislature bend right over and take it up the arse.
One group, our own, in their own country, get hammered. The other, foreign, alien ones, get pandered and grovelled to and given exemptions and special treatment.
